Super Sprint (ST) and Super Skidmarks (Amiga CD32) spring to mind as two of the retro games of this sub-genre I've enjoyed the most.

It's great that the sub-genre is still going strong even today as there are the likes of Rush Rush Rally Racing on DC and Bang Bang Racing on PC plus a whole host of cracking retro-style games of this nature on iOS too. :1:

There's an enhanced version of Rush Rush Rally available on Wiiware. Additional tracks, more modes, etc. Great game.

Ok we have had loads of good ones so here are 2 utterly terrible ones for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum:

That's a rather interesting take on it with Revenge of the C5.

This is a pretty decent effort for the Spectrum by Zeppelin Games - Dirt Track Racer

That does look cool.  The only thing I don't like is that the actual top-view section is rather narrow.

Had this on C64, superb music, but man way too frustrating to enjoy.

A8 music is good, but for amazing you need the SID.

Gameplay wise? i was always more of a Red Max fan on A8, despite the lifetime it took to load :-)

I fixed that link for you as it didn't work

I think the POKEY music is far better myself  :10:
