Atari? There's an ongoing theme with you isn't there?  :P

Wow that's really tough....Atari, Capcom, SNK, Sega, Taito...make my final 5....
Hmm....crikey...has to be between....Capcom and Sega..for the most played arcade games by me over the years....
Sega then....the image of Golden Axe appeared like an angel in my head and decided my vote!

It's is very hard this one. Like you said above, with all those companies and more I could write an argument for any of them.

I hate the OP, lol! I had an absolute nightmare trying to decide between Sega and Atari as I rank them as being joint top. I plumped for Sega but only by a hair's breadth.

Sure, the likes of Namco, Williiams, Capcom and Taito have great respective histories too but, imho, the achievements of Sega and Atari rank those two in a league of their own.

I pretty much agree 100% except I went for Atari with Sega second and Taito someway back in 3rd.

80's arcades had so many gems, and this poll was a tough one. For me it was really down to two companies, Atari and Nintendo. Now, before you say, "What?" regarding Nintendo, just realize that during the early to mid 80's they had so many hits in the arcades. Popeye, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Duck Hunt, Punch Out, to name a few.

Ultimately, though, Atari was a juggernaut. My all time arcade favorite is I, Robot. Consider Crystal Castles, Paperboy, Black Widow, Hard Drivin, APB, Star Wars, Centipede, Tempest, and the list goes on.

That said, there is one that deserves an honorable mention: Taito. The only game that ever made my jaw drop was Darius in 1986. I still remember walking into the Aladdin's Castle near me and being mesmerized by the three screen wide astonishing graphics. Plus Taito made another in my top 5 arcade games, Qix.

I went for the might Atari.  Mainly for Gauntlet I and II, Paperboy, Star Wars and Xybots.  That is an impressive list of games.
