Hyperkin has a new product out for those who want to play your original NES carts on a modern TV set. In this video, I review and unbox a unit that was sent to me by the company. Is the Retron HD worth the reasonable price of $39.99?

Seems worth the price. Would have been nice to see hooked to an HDTV.  The NES top loader seems to be left in the on position. Not a big deal. LOL!

I think they released this to compete with the AVS, which is a much pricier alternative.  They key will be compatibility. The AES uses hardware emulation to not have compatibility issues.

Looks like a Zapper light gun off to the side of the screen. Will light guns work on an HDTV?

Not as far as I know.

This is very cool. My unreliable NES was a large contributing factor on getting a Retro Freak system. (Which is awesome!) If this had been out before I bought that, I may have been swayed.
