Road Runner is a variant of the platformer genre, based on the Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner shorts. It was developed and released by Atari Games in 1985.

Game Play:

The player controls Road Runner, who is chased by Wile E. Coyote. In order to escape, Road Runner runs endlessly to the left. While avoiding the coyote, the player must pick up bird seeds on the street, avoid obstacles like cars, and get through mazes. Sometimes Wile E. Coyote will just run after the Road Runner, but he occasionally uses tools like rockets, roller skates, and pogo-sticks.

was meaning to get around to this one, as I loved the Road runner games, I think that they were all a little optimistic in regards pulling off the cartoon feel of the actual show, officiously the Arcade is the best version, but I remember getting this on the Atari ST and they did such a good job on the port, it's nearly identical in every way to the arcade original, so the ST wins for that alone, as the best home computer port.

I have to admit that I never knew there had been an arcade version of the game.  I was surprised as I always believed the 2600 game was an original game for the system as Atari had started creating this type of games for the system at the time.  I have to admit that what they did with the 2600 is pretty impressive but I do agree that the ST is one of the best home ports.  The NES version does not look bad either.

Not a game i know much of, i love the look of the Arcade version and that ST version but i guess they would look better than the 8 Bit versions.

Well I can only recommend both the arcade or the Atari ST versions, as this game uses the most simple gaming mechanics as a simple PACMan idea of nabbing the birdseed to keep the road runner up and running, I've seen a play thought done on this game in under 10 minutes on the arcade version and then is simply repeats to the first stage again etc.

But still it captured the humour and cartoon feel of the classic cartoon no doubt about it.
