Megadrive video issue help needed

Hi new here and set up my megadrive the other day to find a strange issue that hopefully someone can help me with.

I'm competent and soldering so if I need to do any that's not an issue. I can't seem to tune it in to the tv but tried a s video to composite lead and got a jumpy black screen and a noise but no music etc. Also tried the composite video mod (adding yellow, red and white rca ports) and got the exact same issue.

Sorry my first proper post is a trouble shooting one. Hope to be able to help someone else in the future too (I'm active on a few forums and glad to have found a retro one now too)

Update - power supply was the issue, tried a different one and worked perfect

Yea not often it's that easy lol my av2hdmi is showing in black and white on the megadrive and mastersystem 2 though :/ not sure why.
