Here's the latest news from Super Fighter Team:

Video game prototypes: who doesn't like 'em? They're highly sought after collectibles, plus they often differ from the officially published versions of the games! Sadly they are for internal development purposes only, and rarely leave the hands of those they have been entrusted to. Instead, they are mostly hauled off to secret vaults to be entombed forever, collecting dust while their secret contents are eternally shrouded from the public.

BUT!!

We at Super Fighter Team have been doing some spring cleaning of our secret vault, and are now carelessly offering up the chance for some lucky (?) people to obtain prototype versions of several of our games. (In other words we're tired of looking at them.)

Software revisions and hardware tweaks made during the quality assurance process sometimes necessitate the production one-off tester cartridges. Changes to the product generally include bug fixes, compatibility updates and / or script edits. Blah blah, etc.

Of obvious prime interest to most are sure to be the original STAR ODYSSEY and CASCADE prototypes, which hail from the heyday of Sega Genesis & Mega Drive market supremacy (i.e. the 1990s). Both of the original STAR ODYSSEY and CASCADE cartridges are the only ones known to exist: In the world. And the galaxy. Plus they look really cool and have a good heft to them.

So how do YOU get your hands on these?

Well, three of our BEGGAR PRINCE pre-order customers will receive a BEGGAR PRINCE prototype cartridge along with their order... for free! These three people will be chosen completely at random, and will be surprised when their orders arrive in the mail along with a special treat. (Unless they don't care about prototypes that is, and / or simply wish to greedily re-sell them. *shrugs* Either way.) So GET PSYCHED! because you could be one of them. And the odds of "winning" actually aren't that bad, considering we don't exactly sell a jillion of these gizmos. ( Protip: Pre-order Beggar Prince. :)

...aaaaand the rest of the prototype cartridges are available for sale. *cough*

Here are the details:

Epyx, Inc.

1x CASCADE

Sage's Creation

1x STAR ODYSSEY

Super Fighter Team

3x BEGGAR PRINCE (in addition to the three we will be giving out as prizes)
1x CASCADE
1x MAGIC GIRL
2x STAR ODYSSEY
1x LEGEND OF WUKONG

If you're interested in buying one or more of these, just get in touch with us by e-mail with a fair offer in US dollars. At the end of June we'll select the highest offers and sell off the cartridges. So then you can play 'em, proudly display 'em on a shelf, or hoard them in your own secret vault. Simple as that.

So get in touch with us at:
mailinglist@superfighter.com

All proceeds will go toward the development and production of our next magnificent game...

DIVINE SEALING ][: PASS THE SPACKLE!

...unless of course we think of a better idea first. (Which we already have, don't worry!)

Thanks for reading this verbose (and also very wordy!) e-mail. And stay tuned for future updates from us, including maybe something about Zaku for the Atari Lynx possibly going back into potential production perhaps. *wink*

I was reading this earlier, cool of them to offer up these prototypes. Not really for me but I would be interested in another run of Zaku.

Saturn

Pretty innovative idea. Hope it starts a trend-especially with the old stuff like Jaguar and Mega Drive 8)
The items here don't garner much interest with me personally, but nice to know.
