About this project  What is this Nintendo book about? Ultimate Nintendo: Guide to the NES Library 1985-1995 is an expansive and thorough look at one of the greatest video game libraries of all time - the Nintendo Entertainment System. This 450 page book covers all licensed and unlicensed games released during the system's lifespan, and features information and reviews on hundreds of classic (and not so classic) 8-bit games.

The 30th Anniversary of the Nintendo Entertainment System just passed on Oct. 18, and the NES is still played and remembered fondly today. Why? It might just be because the NES helped save the video game console market in North America. But more importantly, it's beloved for its great and diverse library of games. Super Mario Bros., Tetris, Castlevania,Punch-Out, Mega Man, Duck Hunt, The Legend of Zelda, Ninja Gaiden, Tecmo Bowl -- what do they all have in common? They were all great games released on a single system. And many great game franchises still around today, had their start way back on the NES! The NES had nearly 800 unique game cartridges released for it during its lifetime. While almost every video game fan has played or at least heard of the more famous titles, there were many, many games that weren't as popular or well-known. This book features all of them, with detailed information such as the release date, developer, publisher, genre, availability, and more, as well as a review and rating for each title. There's also a separate "Reflections" section for each game where the author of that review can expound upon the game more, comment on interesting aspects of the game, or even go off on a tangent about video game history, or muse about childhood memories or a humorous anecdote the game may have conjured up.

I mentioned on another forum that the guy who has done this needs kudos for putting in the effort, but really, if it was a dog, it would be put down, its that lame :(

Great idea, and one that probably needs doing, but the quality of the production is more than questionable, not just the visuals (it hurts my eyes) but the actual written content itself is not very good either.

The guy is well over his target, so hopefully he will get someone to at least re-design it if nothing else.

That's not a good thing, Simon.  If the quality isn't up to par, hopefully the money does indeed get used to improve the quality of the product.

Yeah i guess having a background behind the images will make it easier to look at.

Rather than pointing out the obvious, I'm sure the information will be very good, but concerns over the way it's been written, again this is always something of the Achilles Heel with books, mine included, I have had to have them proof read and then some, which can be a massive pain in the arse and make or break a product after it comes into the wild.

I'm sure the intentions are spot on with the information, but better to have it addressed if somebody can mention this to the author without appearing condescending. The design gremlin again sneaks up and what people think what looks great, we'll always get a second or third opinion on the way things looks and flow and read, if the continuity is lacking with won't help the book from page to page, but if may be too late for a compete redesign at this stage, 8/10 these products are more or less finished before they even run a crowd fund raiser.

But I wish them the best of luck with it all :)

Just worked it out...

For the physical book and pdf we are looking at $78, plus $65 shipping.  So £100 in English money

Plus the possibility of customs charges too.

I'm gonna leave this one I think.

Me too if that's correct, I would want a load of books at that price.

What was a little off was that the shipping prices were put up only a few days ago, it was well funded by that point.

I dont understand how people can pledge without knowing postage costs? Well i guess no money is taken at first thats why, but if you forget you pledged and get a high bill come through that would be a shocker!
