Thanks to Greyfox for tweeting about this Kickstarter project!

Here's the link http://kck.st/1kHZ1mQ but before anyone gets too excited I suggest you check out the rewards and prices first!

I think you would have to be a very hardcore Dragons Lair fan to want to spend that much, but I wish them luck. I like the idea of making a movie out of it but too pricey for me.

They have ruined any chance of this succeeding with those pledges surely??

Yeah, I definitely don't see this getting funded. $125 for a BD is outrageous if you ask me, as are the other rewards. I'll admit I'm not the target audience as I have never been a huge fan of the game, but even if I was I would have a hard time with the price.

Greyfox

this is insane, I think they are being overly pretentious in the perks they have offered here other by misinformation or research on handling the fairness or what people expect with endorsements of the perk formula.

Or that with the game being a classic as far as to say revolutionary back in 1983 does not make for a must have as even back then the game wasn't classed as a huge hit like pacman or space invaders and was very expensive too both to play or run, thinking that people believe in it enough to fork out big money for mediocre return.

I think the should release, remaster and repackage the cartoon series along with space ace too and release them on bluray instead, it's better value that what's being offered at the moment, we all don't live n Monty Carlo you know :)

I was interested until I saw the prices!  Wow!

$125 is too steep for me, but I'd consider donating a lesser amount. If the project gets funded and the studio does its job, then we can expect a common DVD or Blu-ray release later on down the road. I doubt they'd go through the trouble of creating a full-length animated feature if they didn't intend to release it to the masses. I might throw in some money as I think Dragon's Lair has always deserved a big-screen adaptation. ;)

The problem is there aren't really any reasonably priced rewards. Most Kickstarter campaigns have a $5 level just for people to help out and still get updates on the project as it goes along. For this one that level is $15, so three times the price, and that continues through all the rewards. Divide any of them by 3 and you get a more realistic price that they should be going for.

As for anybody being able to buy the the finished disc, I agree they should be able to and it would be silly to only offer it through the KS, but I'm not sure how they're going to do that. If I paid $125 for a disc and then saw it on store shelves for $25 a year later I'd be pretty pissed!

Shadowrunner

Well, with only a day to go and being at less than 50% of the target they have cancelled this project. Guess we weren't the only ones who didn't like the price!

In a strange move though, they have said they are regrouping and starting a new campaign on Indiegogo Dec.1st. I don't see how they will have any better success there, unless they are going with a flexible campaign where they get the money regardless of meeting the goal.

Here's the IGG coming soon page for anyone interested.

TrekMD

Not surprising but IGG may not be the best way to go.

Well it seems we have the gift of fortune telling guys :) . The only reason I think to why they would consider using IndieGoGo because either their researcher thinks it has a far reaching public than kickstarter? Or the fact that they get the money as it rolls in? Which could lead IndieGoGo having to foot the bill at the end, or whatever way they operate. Thing, instant fail.

I think they need to get realistic and start realising that Dragon Lair was amazing some 31 years ago and now has games that could do this ingame, also targeting it at this generation is a big mistake as half of them haven't got a clue about the game, to them is some cartoon that came out years ago, the target audience is few and only real diehards would be up for supporting this, I think the should have halved their budget and paid the other half themselves to making it a reality. But IndieGoGo is not that path.
