Atari Age member KevinMos3 has done a nice graphical hack of Double Dragon for the Atari 7800 to make the game look closer to the arcade.  The 7800 version managed to capture the gameplay of Double Dragon but Activision did not do the greatest job translating many of the graphics, the characters in particular. KevinMos3 has made quite a few visual changes to make the game closer to the arcade.  KevinMos3 used the original sprites and started by filling in the gaps. He also added a bit of shading here and there and made some minor tweaks. Doing this meant having a blonde Billy was no longer viable, so his hair is now dark red-brown. There were a couple of other minor touches added, like glare on the windows in the first mission.  With version 3, there are even more changes made:  characters now have open mouths when hit, some tweaks to sprite alignments and sizing, the bat is larger, the chains on the mountain bridge in Mission 3b look like the arcade, additional detail in background of mountain bridge screen, the final level has added shading to the walls, and the font has been replaced with the arcade font.  Check out the images below...

That looks so awesome.  I wish Activision had done this when they released the game.  This and a POKEY chip!
