Although I had a 48k rubber key Speccy for a short time the machine that I mostly grew up with was a 128k +2a. I remember having several friends who still had 48k models and so when got my 128k I took great pleasure in showing them how I didn't have to suffer the awful multi-loads in many games and also got to experience some cracking music in some games too thanks to the Yamaha sound chip.

Some of my best 128k memories would have to be:

Ninja Massacre - A great budget Gauntlet clone by Codemasters with some of the best music on the machine (listen to it on our very own retro player!).
Robocop - Without doubt one of the best games on the machine the wonderful 128k version has digitised speech, an amazing sound track and loads all in one go.
Outrun - While the game wasn't the best conversion, mainly due to the pedestrian speed, the soundtrack was first class with all the great tunes from the arcade game.
Pit-Fighter - Pretty terrible game, why they even attempted this is anyones guess, but the intro sequence and music was bloody brilliant (music on the retro player!).
Chase H.Q. - Another brilliant game by Ocean, the 128k version had loads of great speech and loaded in one go. The sequal, S.C.I., was in fact 128k only too.
NARC - Ocean do the business once again in probably one of the very last Spectrum games I bought. A great conversion of the blood thirsty arcade game and 128k only too.
Sonic Boom - A conversion of an oscure Sega coin-op by Activision this for me is the best vertically scrolling shooter on the machine. 128k only with a great soundtrack.
Knight Tyme - I don't know what it was exactly about the Magic Knight games that I loved but this 128k only version with music by the legendary David Whittaker was bloody brilliant.
Rainbow Islands - I remember getting this on a compilation with Bubble Bobble and New Zealand Story. All three were excellent and as well as the lack of multi-loads the 128k versions had some wonderful music.
Pacmania - I had to include this great 3D Pacman arcade conversion as I found myself actually humming the music as I was writing this list!

I haven't spent much time playing it yet, but I have a +2A as well.

Rainbow Islands is always ace. I really liked Kwik Snax too. I switched between those two games when I took my Spectrum to 8 bit lounge.

If you do get one get a +3 or a +2a.

Advantages being that with the +3 you can use disks and with the +2a you can plug a MP3 player into the headphone jack and load games that way.

If you go for the +2A or +3, you can also get one of the various IDE adapters which have the +3E Roms on board.  I have one from Zetro over at AmiBay that uses CF - who needs tape!!
