Enduro Racer is an arcade game from Sega. It was released in 1986 with either a stand up cabinet with handlebars or a full-sized dirt bike on the cabinet itself. Some said it is essentially the dirt version of Hang-On, hence using the similar engine and PCB.

Game play:

The player rides the dirt bike through five stages and must avoid other riders as well rocks and trees. They can also jump over them with assist from the logs. The game's most definitive feature was the 'Wheelie' feature that allowed players to pull up the handlebars on the cabinet to perform the wheelie.

I've never played the game before, but the arcade original looks good. The MS version looks like a completely different game but still good. The other ports look pretty bad though, wouldn't want to play them!

Yes, I was quite disappointed with all the ports.  I think the Atari ST is the closest to the arcade.  The Master System has a different take on the game but it does look fun.  I guess they figured they couldn't really do a straight port.  Interesting they did not release it for the Genesis/MD.

Yes I agree on the Atari ST version, it seems all port where handled very poorly for some reason, I'm wondering did sega or any other arcade vendor of the time have any sort of quality control over these bad ports? Or was it a case of once license fees were paid, they could churn out any shite they liked?

Plus I love the David Whittaker take on the music in the Atari ST version. :)

I'd say you nailed it here:  "once license fees were paid, they could churn out any shite they liked"

Crazy talk. The Master System game is one of the best on the system!
