Oh, it is here to stay and will definitely grow.  :)

Going to the final frontier, gaming...

I keep thinking back to the sports trading card fad of the early 90's, and how it completely tanked! Add in the increasing age of some of these consoles and it does make me wonder. I think we're safe for now, and the nostalgia factor is a big part of it.

I've cooled a little but that's mostly because I've got what I can fit in for the time being.

There is other stuff I want but I'm happy to play the waiting game for the right price.

I'm not sure what this "explosion" is or when it started.
I've been collecting Atari 2600 games since 1995.
I think, due to ebay, it's caught the attention of a lot of greedy folk.
No interest in gaming, gaming history or nostalgia. Just money.
ET for instance was one of those games that you couldn't sell. It would be chucked in for free much like Combat.
Now there's online Retro shops offering it for ONLY £16.
I never used to pay more than £3 for most games now a loose (very common) game, with postage, is about £8 on average.
Even sadder to see well known "enthusiasts" advertising on ebay...

Yeah its here to stay and will grow, like dot.fyre has said above, there is some strange sides to the retro scene that could collapse it just as quick though.. That's called greed.
