Hi people, I came across this site while browsing the Atariage website, and seeing a link for the 2600 Encyclopedia.

I have a fairly extensive retro collection of consoles, from the usual suspects like Snes NES, Master System etc., to the more obscure, like the Vectrex, Virtual Boy, Amstrad GX4000.

But my main interest in retrogaming is in the 2600. It was our first console at home growing up, a woody with Centipede, Combat, and my two favourites from back then, Solar Fox and Joust.

I remember going to my cousins house and seeing Pitfall! for the first time, that was my  :66: moment, it blew my mind, a scrolling platformer instead of one single screen, we all know that feeling as a kid when you see something you can't comprehend!

I have a couple hundred 2600 carts now, and a good few signed by their programmers, from the likes of Rob Fulop (Asteroids), Warren Robinett (Adventure), Steve DeFrisco (Motorodeo), and one of my favourites, Halo 2600 signed by Ed Fries. Plus I have some kind of rare Homebrews, like Boulderdash and Princess Rescue, both CIB.

I also have managed to complete the PAL red label collection of 2600 games, Vanguard was the hardest of those for me to find, but BMX Airmaster was the most expensive. If my wife knew I spent €100 on one piece of plastic, I'd say heads would roll...

So that's it, I'm glad I found this site, another good Retro site bookmarked!

Hello FroSt,

thanks for giving such a cool intro there, I was an Atari 2600 fan boy many moons ago and moved with the times, at the time, but stuck with Atari until the demise of the Atari ST, We cover a lot of content here, not just Atari Stuff, but movies, tv shows, games, you name it we've covered it, the community here is great, nobody trolling other like over in other certain places and have a great support network here too.

If you have the time try to become a regular poster, as we have a special members area at the 50 post count mark, and a live chat-box too as a show of thanks to those who stuck with us here at RVG. I also have our own Podcast, where they are always looking for new to people to chat about, there collections or a specialist subject , a You tube channel program etc..

so we are more than just a forum .. anyways, have a good one and cya around and if you have any questions or queries, don't hesitate to get in touch with one of us :)
