JAX Arcade Expo 80s Night Video
« on: May 05, 2015, 02:18:31 AM »
Here's a video of this past weekend at the JAX Arcade Expo 80s party with lots of lights and rocking 80s tunes. It was "The Cure" for anyone missing the glory days of the arcade. Collectors brought in lots of games and funds taken in for the tickets go to a good charity. I brought a Bosconian. Enjoy!

That looks awesome.  Some games that I'd not seen arcade cabinets for, like Road Runner.  How many machines did they have at this event?

There were about 140 arcades (based on the list from the website) brought for the weekend.

Also, Hammer Away, which was a Sega prototype game that was never released apparently was there in a conversion cab and it was fun getting to play that.

There was a nice retro console room that I spent a lot of time in. God zilla from Atari Age was there and he brought lots of great systems including the retail GameBoy display unit which is like a big screen GameBoy, and many rare games for lot of systems. I played a fair amount of Blazing Lazers and Musha. He owns every American released system including the AmigaCD system. It was great. I learned a lot of history about systems and games that I didn't have the opportunity to play growing up.

The classic arcade game tournament was fun as well.

That's plenty of cabs and having unreleased games available is awesome!  Is this an annual event?

This was the second annual event. http://www.jaxarcadeex.com

The guys leading the show are just great people. They made it so much fun. It's definitely worth the trip if you are in the region. The next upcoming show in the general region that I know of is Southern Fried in Atlanta this summer, which will also be the 2nd annual event for them. It really was huge and incredible last year. An entire full cast of professionally dressed Star Wars storm troopers and Darth Vadar led a procession bringing a Star Wars arcade and Star Wars pinball on the stage for an open high score tournament.

That sound amazing with the Star Wars stuff.  Perfect for this year, also!
