2015 must be the years of retro and video game related books and documentaries and it seem there is another lurking in the shadows waiting to be unleashed on the retro reading public, this time anothe amazing company to be covered Gremlin Graphics a great British Games developer behind such titles as "Super Cars", "Lotus Series", "Switchblade" and many more great games from the Zx Spectrum to the Commodore Amiga and then some.

So if you remember these classics to which Ben Dalish and Matt Furniess wrote the music for some of the best Gremlin Graphic titles.

Hello everyone. Just a quick hello and a plug for my book - A Gremlin in the Works - The biography of the ground-breaking, and highly respected Gremlin Graphics.

Gremlin are a company very close to my heart, having lived and grown-up in Sheffield and recently having worked with many former legends of the development house on my educational project Games Britannia.

The website http://agremlinintheworks.co.uk/ features a few extracted pages from the book so should give you an idea of what to expect sometime later this year. No absolute plans on publication yet, but I suspect it will head to Kickstarter.

Let me know your thoughts, which Gremlin games you loved and why, and if there's anything specifically that you'd love to read about the company and its games.

Firstly your very welcome to RVG Mark, I have already started a post last year about your book in production, so I've merged them together in one place ;)

Have a good fella.

If your looking for suggestions, I'd love to hear what Ben Daglish liked so much about working at Gremlin considering the amount of music he wrote for them, he was there number one musician , would love a feature on this and what the trials and tribulations were from the Gremlin Graphics days, a massive feature officiously on the graphics end of things across all the formats, the pros, the cons, and finally the concepts of there games what made them different and what made super cars 1 & 2 such bloody great games :)

Thanks for taking time to reply and merging the threads!

The book already has a massive feature on Magnetic Fields and all of their games from Trailblazer through to Lotus including Supercars and the ports. There's a few sample pages from MF on the website - including a shot of Supercars ...

Ben I've yet to cover, but I would estimate that he is the lesser of the musicians compared to Pat Phelan and Neil Biggin in terms of quantity - which is your favourite track and era though is up to you. I think Ben and Rob powered the 8-bit generation for Gremlin with Monty, Thing, Krakout, Deflektor, etc.

Greyfox

Yeah they sure did fella, but I truly loved Ben's work on the Atari ST , looking at the list of games, he did a lot for the ST well over 10 games , I'll have to have a time travel flashback of what Pat worked on.
