So, I've seen the Game Genie mentioned several times but there is no thread dedicated to talking about it.  I've never owned one of these, so I thought starting a thread would be a good idea.  Does anyone own one?  How do you like it?  What console do you have it for?  Below is a video I found discussing the device. 

For those who don't know what this is:  The Game Genie is a series of cheat systems originally designed by Codemasters and sold by Camerica and Galoob. The first device in the series was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System, with subsequent devices released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy, Mega Drive/Genesis, and Sega Game Gear. All the devices temporarily modify game data, allowing the player to cheat, manipulate various aspects of games and sometimes access unused assets and functions. Five million units of the original Game Genie products were sold worldwide, and most video game console emulators feature Game Genie support. Emulators that have Game Genie support also allow a near-unlimited number of codes to be entered whereas the actual products have a much smaller limit that usually tops between three and six codes.

No Game Genie devices were developed by Codemasters for the fifth generation of consoles. However, other companies have produced similar hacking devices such as the Code Breaker and GameShark. The Game Genie brand was later revived by the company Hyperkin, who released cheat systems for newer consoles.

I've never owned a Game Genie either. I do have a Game Guru for the 3DO and a Game Shark for the Dreamcast though. They're both the same kind of device but the 3DO one also has a hex editor built in, and the DC one allows you to play import games as well. Handy little devices!

That is cool.  I may try to get the one for the Genesis/MD.  The codes can all be found online, so even if you don't get the book that's not a big deal.

Never owned one, i have used similar systems like the Action Replay versions.

Got them for NES, SNES, and Genesis. After that came the Game Shark.

I used to have a mint sealed NES one and a spare I'd use all the time.  Neat bit of kit and you can still use it via emulation to hack games.  Really was ahead of its time.

Don't use my GG enough TBH!

Now the internet exists I could probably get more codes as IIRC I don't have a lot of games that are in the code book....

Yep, it is easy to find the codes online.  I found a site that has all the codes for the Genesis/MD games.  I'm sure there is something similar for the GG.

When my brother and I were younger, we absolutely relied on the Game Genie. (And I'm not ashamed to admit it!) I managed to wean myself off it, but there are still times when I'm tempted to use cheat codes to get through difficult games.

Well, I got one now and I'll admit that I'll be cheating my way through some games!  LOL
