Gunpei Yokoi is a legendary and highly influential figure not just in Nintendo history, but in the history of the video games industry as a whole. This exclusive book is dedicated to the life, philosophies and many inventions of the former long time Nintendo employee, and the man considered in Japan as "The God of Nintendo Toys".
Gunpei Yokoi was the inventor of the Game Boy and Game & Watch series, and the producer of several long running, highly successful and critically acclaimed Nintendo franchises, including Donkey Kong and Mario Bros.

Discover the astonishing personality of this iconic figure in video game history, from his humble origins as a Nintendo maintenance engineer, through his classic and beloved toy inventions such as Ultra Hand, Ten Billion and Duck Hunt, his pioneering inventions that changed the face of the video game industry such as the Game Boy, the Game & Watch, and even the D-pad that still appears on video game controllers to this day, right through to his parting company with Nintendo, and working on the Bandai Wonderswan, up until his tragic death in 1997.

This tribute to Gunpei Yokoi includes in depth reviews and information on every one of his inventions, toys and humble collection of pixels, yet to ascend to the very top of the video game industry, and yet to scale the heights of becoming gaming's most recognisable character.

This is the first translation I've done for Pix'n Love and this is probably the book I'm looking forward to have the most.

I didn't know much about Gunpei Yokoi before reading it, but I'm really glad such a book exists because he was truly a genius.

This was adapted from a Japanese biography that was published shortly after Yokoi's death, written by Takefumi Makino. An original copy costs several hundred pounds now...

It's a definitely a must-read especially if you like The History of Nintendo volume 2.
