Master System
Fantasy Zone is pretty much essential for the system. You might want to try the Power Strike games on an emu before you invest in them, they have their fans but its not a fave of mine. There's a decent version of R-Type here too.

NES
I'm not too hot on NES, it's never really grabbed me, but it does have the Nemesis/Gradius games as well as Salamander/Lifeforce. Probably not the definitive versions, but alright.

Mega Drive
Gley Lancer, Gynoug, Raiden, Sol Deace, Thunderforce 2-4, Truxton, Twin Cobra, Zero Wing and of course the Space Harrier games. How on earth you've managed to avoid shmups on the MD is beyond me, it's the whole point of owning one imo.

PS1
Cho Aniki, Darius Gaiden, Dodonpachi, Einhander, In The Hunt, Parodius Deluxe, Mobile Light Force (aka Gunbird), R-Types, R-Type Delta, Sanvein, Tempest X, Xevious 3DG.

That looks awesome mate

I reckon Xevious 3DG doesn't get enough coverage, it tries to do something new with the presentation of the shmup format and pulls it off well imo. More fun than the original at leastand I have fond memories of that.

Its my most missed game - lent it out years back and no idea where to.... I'll pick it up again someday as the presentation e.g. graphics and sound are stunning

TrekMD

There is one for the Genesis/MD that I recently purchased (waiting for it to arrive) that is supposed to be good based on reviews:  Bio-Hazard Battle.

Going to the final frontier, gaming...
