The PS2 wasn't a leap for me and has always been overated imo, i personally wen't from the Dreamcast to the Xbox, so i had some amazing arcade games and then got the best of the PS2 games with enhanced graphics and online play and some amazing Xbox exclusives, sure the PS2 had more games overall, but i didn't miss what the Xbox didn't have.

The xBox was a cracking machine, which I have 2 of them, one with Coin-Op 5 with over 3,000 games and one for the rest of the emu plus Xbox games, and played a ton of Xbox games, the ps2 classed as over rated , well to me it was about he games, I didn't feel that the fanboyism scene had really happen in this gen, well were I live, we just loved to see new games and which ever did it better, was the way to go, the God of War series were incredible an worth getting a ps2 for alone, Resident Evil 4 and stuff, simply devine.. But then the Xbox had Riddick which was amazing, I just felt that the PS2 had the game devs behind it especially the innovators in Japan doing weird and wacky games on the PS2, rather than other machines of the time, but it all goes in all directions with all these machines of the time, GameCube , PS2 and Xbox all had their strengths and fans, I loved them all equally for their games. But spend most on my time gaming on the PS2.

Yeah it all depends on what machine you had before hand i think, had i not had a Dreamcast (was still playing DC games for a couple of years after PS2 launch) so had no need for a new console, then Sega pulled the plug in 2002 and Halo just sold it for me, had no other intentions of buying a PS2.
I agree it has an amazing games library, i just preferrred the direction the Xbox was heading with online play and its Sega games too.

Yeah, the Dreamcast, I only had for a very short period , but by Jesus were the games brilliant, Out Trigger, Shenmue, just defies logic? To why they would cann this incredible machine, and feel that the Sega's Dreamcast with its innovated ideas, like the PDA and stuff and the online play etc..were there before Microsoft and Sony, so I believe its Sega was the futurists of gaming, but then they weren't as Nolan Bushell wanted to this in the late 1970's and nearly did too..
