hey guys, sorry I've not been around much lately but I thought I'd show you some stuff from my collection, I hope I'm not breaching any forum rules, don't think I am but it would take ages to trim all the pics, get a link for each individual pic and then put it all in a thread, so here is my slideshow on photobucket, I just took these pics the other day and they include everything except Dreamcast, Mega Drive, Master System and 360, I'm waiting for a game on both Mega Drive and SMS in the post and the DC collection is split between my flat and my folks house lol,

cheers man, yeah very nice, I love all those old Atari boxes you've got they are fantastic!!

I still don't understand how you hate the thumbstick, I can't imagine missing out on the last 2 gens because of that, but hey I know your not a fan and that's cool, I'm just trying to comprehend how my gaming would be without playing anything from DC onwards, think I'd probably have an operation on my thumbs or something lol!!

I had been considering selling about 80% of my collection but logistically its just not worth it, or financially either. By the time I've paid ebay fees, postage materials, and the time and effort to list them all and pack them up would just be too much lol

I will post pics of my Mega Drive and Master System ones ASAP, the DC will probably have to wait though as its split as I said and I JUST can't be arsed lol

Its not just the analogue sticks I hate.

I don't really enjoy the majority of modern games. Endless FPS style games and racers just don't do it for me.

When I play a game I want something I can pick up and just play without having to devote weeks to playing it.

oh yeah, I remember, you preferred the pick up and play style, but that to me is the biggest strength of the Dreamcast, 80% of its games are PURE pick up and play games that you don't have to spend days working on, games like Hydro Thunder, Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur, Jet Set Radio, Virtua Tennis etc, loads of games, all arcade ports from the Naomi board etc, that's one reason why its my fave machine, it has that perfect balance between games that are pure pick up and play goodness while ALSO having ooodles of excellent, long, story driven games.

That's why, for me, the DC is the pinnacle of console gaming, right before it all went to hell thanks to EA and Activision churning out sequel after sequel in all the franchises etc, so I get what your saying

cheers mate, Its proper hard actually, I had to redo loads cos I kept finding games I'd missed like saturn and mega cd games that are just in gaps in other boxes etc, good fun though

hopefully this will be the definitive collection for a while as I don't plan to buy many more for a while what with my stag do this week, wedding and honeymoon 3 weeks later etc I just can't afford it!!

Nice collection there! One point, please get a Master System mark 1, I hate the kiddie looking mark 2 lol plus your need it to play the cards anyway if you collect them.

It's a Codemasters game (looks like Dizzy), they all had those wierd looking carts.

yeah codemasters thought outside the box lol. its a dizzy compilation... I tried to find fantastic dizzy and thought it'd be on that comp but it wasn't... sad face great little device

regarding the master system, I'm not really planning on collecting any of the cards, I had a few many moons ago but once I found out you can get the majority on cart I moved on to the mk2. Oh and plus the mk2 has Alex Kidd in Miracle World BUILT IN so I don't have to spend buckets of cash on getting the cartridge!

None of these collections will get much bigger to be fair, I just pick up the odd game that I want when I see it cheap... I'm not like planning to buy every game for every console I just like having a nice collection of great titles wherever possible

thanks by the way for the comments... can anyone suggest any good lengthy Game Gear games? I'm talking the kind of thing like Rygar for Lynx or Slime World or Xybots, is there anything of that quality on GG besides shadow of the beast, which funnily enough I have on Lynx lol

God I love that little Lynx... brilliant machine, I can't WAIT for Zaku either

if anyone wants to see any of these games on my youtube please let me know, I really enjoy making vids of these games, I was going to do a couple for jag such as Robinsons Requiem or Towers 2 but I haven't had the chance, what with getting married, turning 30, being on honeymoon lol



side note!! Regarding the Master System MK 1, if you look at my Mega Drive picture I have a cable that fits in the MD1 and sends sound and vid by composite yellow and white (mono only) I was wondering, would the same cable from the MD1 also work on an SMS1 as well? it looks like the same port... check out this link to see what I mean:

I'm just thinking its worth buying an SMS MK1 as the output will then to go my tv via either scart or RCA/composite (if you buy an RCA/scart adapter which I already have) and to my pc via my capture card, so is it worth me buying an SMS mk1 then guys for those reasons? It also means I won't ever have to twat around tuning the SMS in ever again lol
