Quote from: "Greyfox"We have respect the wishes on this, as Zapiy mentioned in the first post that Kieren Hawken asked for his reviews to be withdrawn and its been respected because of his contribution here good or bad, we felt obligated to allow him to graceful take them away with him, personally I found it incredibly petty and childish, but as a global moderator, moderators and Admin, we have to remain a professional outlook and respect all those involved.

Well that shows that the mods and the people who run the site are honorable. I dont know whats happened but I would have thought he would have left the reviews considering the role he had in establishing things.

It simply is and was a case of moving on and I'm sure he will live on as will the rest of us, we can't put things on hold while there is so much to get done here at RVG, its a loss to the site but we'll bounce back and so will Kieren on his new forum etc..

So again we want to wish him good luck and stay retro :103:

Well he should at least be happy he was part of this one. I am really reluctant about forums and only visit 3 game related forums. This one, RetroGamer, and RetroCollect.

Hmmm I read this thread yesterday.  I've read today's comments..... [edit: and Grey and SnakeEyes stop posting a minute!!  I'm typing and watching the Commonwealth Games programme on the beeb and I can't keep up! Now I have to edit....... ....]

I wasn't going to comment for any reason other than that I don't like farewell threads.  Whether it's an official announcement or a self indulgent, self scripted 'ta tar', I think they're unnecessary.

But I'm here now so first I'll say, au revoir!

Now, what's this about pulling reviews he wrote?  Surely some mistake?  I really don't think Kieren would want this community to be damaged in anyway regardless of differences or whatever the issues may be.  I think he's a better man than that.  Better these are left alone for the benefit of the RVG community.  Ok, so I'm wrong -  I gave him the benefit of the doubt too.  What a selfish act to leave on.

Looking forward, someone will step up to fill his place and as the old formula goes when someone leaves something - you're celebrated if you were any good, then blamed for everything, then forgotten.  C'est la vie.

And on the plus side it means less Atari bias and talk.  Yay!  Can I suggest the job spec includes that any candidate "Must be a Commodore fanboy" and has "Nintendo fan" in the desirable criteria. ;)

Guys your all entitled to an opinion. For me I wanted to respect a guy that did so much for the site and let them go with him.

Trust me though they will be replaced. Any of you wishing to help please do.

I really hate those Atari fanbois!  Some of them seem to make new games every other day!

Im not going to call it petty or childish, I dont think it is, but I do think it will help both (Laird and RVG) split amicably :113:

Yes.  No Scat-o-logic vs Jag Sector II weirdness needed here!

Well what has been said is all sound, but now we have to carry on with the hand we are dealt.I see this as a setback turning to an opportunity to develop, and as long as there are peolple posting then the jouney will be worth it. Im in  :67:

Is there a list of things that need redone?  Or, do we just submit new stuff?

TrekMD

There is a list but I don't think it is viewable to you.  It is in the Reviewer's Room.  Are you interested in writing reviews?

I've written a few small articles that never got published.  I can't promise an immediate review but I'd like to contribute at some point :)

Well, practice makes perfect.  If you want to give it a try, let me know what systems you'd like to write for.  I didn't write any until I started writing them for RVG.  Needless to say, that ship has sailed and I've written plenty!

As luck would have it one of my never published reviews happens to be in the "needs to be replaced" category.  Sent a PM to TrekMD for his edification.

Progress!
