this is the second time a delivery of FMS6400 chips were stopped by customs and returned to sender without notice. the sender told me the custom verifies packages this month very accuratly so the FMS6400 doesn't make it thru.

As FMS6400 are declared as ROHS conform I'm a little bit shocked what could be wrong with the delivery.
Why doesn't the chips made it thru custom and if not inspected are sent fine?

Found no reason for it and nobody will tell, neither the vendor nor any information given by custom as there is no package id delivered.

Any idea?

the chips made it thru the customs on second run. Strange. I got no answer what could be the problem here as the parts itself are ROHS compliant according to the datasheets.

I guess if customs don't info why they were rejected you will never know.

that my fear  :-[

I currently verify all kind of available video filters and most likely the FMS6400 will not be used as it is quite old and expensive and rare in comparison to other vendors.

as the FMS chips are hardly to find specially due to the abondening of S-Video (all HDMI chips already includes a filter) I decided not to use these chips anymore. My vendor here in europe rated the delivery of most S-Video and simple filter chips to "should not be used for new designs" so I'll guess if it runs out of stock it can't be ordered anymore after a while. I remember longhorn engineering ran into the same trouble with the FMS6400....
