Super Cobra is a 1981 horizontally scrolling shooter, arcade game. It was developed by Konami from the engine of the popular Scramble, and manufactured and distributed by Stern in North America.  In the game, the player controls a helicopter and has to guide it across a scrolling terrain, battling obstacles along the way. Super Cobra saw several home ports and here we have a look at them.

There is also an Atari 7800 homebrew version that is missing from the video.  Sadly, there are no good videos of the port on YouTube.  This one has no audio but you can see the visuals of the game.

I have the 5200 cartridge. Boy, here's a textbook example of an infuriating game, but still fun. I find even if you get good at this one, you can have really bad games, where you just can't find that light touch on the controls you need. Doesn't find it's way into my 5200 cartridge slot very often.

I have the very mediocre 2600 and also the excellent XL/XE version, which is among my favourite games on the machine!

I have always prefered Super Cobra to Scramble, really under rated game IMO.

I have the 7800 version and it is just as hard to play.  Regardless, it is a good game and a challenge.

I have the 7800 version too. One of my favourite games to play on the system.

The rare coleco version is quite good, a shame it didn't have a higher profile.

I would still like to grab that 7800 version one day

Good Deal Games had a limited run of carts for this game.  I don't know if anyone else is going to make carts.  Someone should.

That looks pretty cool for a tabletop game!
