Hey, there are several very good DOS games out there.  One I really enjoyed was Star Trek Pinball.  :)

Going to the final frontier, gaming...

I vaugley remember Decent and am racking my memory banks for what else I tried. I did play Hexagon.Damn my memory is so bad these days, head too full of stuff.

Ok, looking at a list of DOS games, I also played:

  • Theme Hospital
    The Dig
Well, I'm getting all confused now. The list I was looking at also states that Command and Conquer was also a DOS game. If that's the case then it was very good.

I also still play Populous: The Beginning on my Win7 Laptop :113:
For the record, Alien verses Predator on the Atari Jaguar holds a Guinness World Record!

To remove any awkwardness, I have mesothelioma. I don’t seek sympathy, just acceptance. Thanks

A few of my favourite DOS games are :-

Civilization - The Grandfather of strategy games.
Dune - A sort of hybrid adventure/RTS game with the characters from Dune.
Dune 2 - The RTS game which started it all!
Railway Tycoon - Choo choo!
Pinball Fantasies - Get ready to "Puke" on the "Party Land" table.
Lemmings - Oh no!  Lets go!
Tie Fighter - The "Dark Side of the Force" is stronger.
Descent - Spin my head around!
Sam 'n' Max Hit the Road - A LucasArts classic.
Day of the Tentacle - Another classic from LucasArts.

Too many good dos games to list...

Doom, wolf3d,  rott, duke3d, carmageddon, jazz jackrabbit, wacky wheels,  and many many more.

A dos game console with controller support would be awesome assuming you could quick run games from a simple ui.

Ooh! I get to be helpful now! I love being helpful! I know this isn't quite a console, but I can help you with the 'simple UI' and 'controller support' parts.

I use D-Fend Reloaded, myself, which is basically a front-end that makes running games from DOSBox a little easier. It's pretty versatile, so if you're a dork like me and like your games classified by genre, year, developer, AND publisher, you can do that. Or, you can just set it so you double click the name of the game and it starts, and that's all. Either works.

For the controller side of things, I've had some pretty good luck with my Fighter Commander, with is basically a Saturn controller with a few extra buttons. Pretty much any USB controller should work.

If you need any help, let me know!

VERY cool!!!

Ill have to check it out. I know i had (maybe have?) loads of dos games on cd still somewhere in storage. This would be major fun to go back through some old titles..

Anyone ever remember playing on dwango?!? (doom matchup network before major online gaming hit)

Oh, here's a cool tip for anybody who wants to get straight to the games:

When you get D-Fend Reloaded, click 'Profile' on the menu bar at the top, and then select 'Download packages...'. From there, check out the 'Games' and 'Multiple games packages' tabs to see a bunch of games you can instantly download straight to your D-Fend, no installation or setup needed! There's a lot of games in there, including a good bit of stuff I've reviewed, so take a look!
