Thanks all for your replies and comments. On the Jag CD, I suppose my real excitement comes from the fact that I never thought I'd own one and then suddenly an unboxed unit with two games (vid grid and Blue Lightning) appeared on ebay. I think it'd only been active for about an hour and was priced at £150 buy it now...so I did. The last one I saw on ebay was a boxed one with a few games that I bid £230 on...and it eventually ended up selling for over £350. There was also one on Gumtree recently but the guy wanted over £500 for it! I've been in contact with the seller who seems like a genuine guy and I've seen pics of the Jag CD working so I have no reason to think I've been tricked!

Thanks for the advice on Atari Age. I've had a look and there are some interesting forum threads on there, but I agree that there is some 'throat jumping' when people ask innocent questions.

Again, off topic slightly (although I did see those videos some time ago and thought they were great) - does anyone know if NTSC Jag CD games work in a PAL system? Someone's selling Battlemorph on ebay uk but it says it's an NTSC copy...

Arethius_RGC

The only game nbot working ona PAL system is Dragon's Lair.

Battlemorph is region free so to say. THe selelr may have bouht it in the US but it does not made it a NTSC Game.

Thanks for the pointer! I shall be making a purchase then...

I know this is shameful self promotion and I'm not sure how that sits with the moderators (sorry if it's not allowed), but here's a look at the Jag CD and the Virtual Light Machine I posted on my site:

Let me know what you guys think!

I moved your posts again as you keep putting them in the normal Jaguar thread instead of the much more relevant Jag CD thread :3:

Tomleecee

Oh...sh*t! My bad! I didn't even see the Jag CD thread, sorry about that! Duly noted, I'll be sure to put things in the right place from now on :)

I bought my first Jag CD about 3 years ago, and I was just as excited as you are now! Battlemorph is an awesome game too, hope you enjoy it  :)

Coming to this way late but the only disappointing thing about the Jag CD to me was the small amount of games released for it (ok and Space Ace...and Myst. Sorry but I can't stand Myst when compared to more entertaining games like Return To Zork. At least the JCD ver. of Myst is the best with the high color and full screen but it's really too bad Return To Zork wasn't finished and released with a similar treatment).

Unfortunately for me my JCD has crapped out (not the standard typical problem with the motor getting stuck) so if anyone knows of someone that can take a look at them I would be happy to find out. I'm afraid it might be kaput but I don't want to give up on it so I can finally play Robinson's Requiem and revisit some BattleMorph.

RE: BM from the beginning of this thread, I know it is blasphemy but I prefer BM to both Starfox and Starfox 64. I like exploring around all of those different worlds. SF is ok and obviously is more action oriented but when S64 attempts their "free range" stuff, it's really clunky and just doesn't work at all. Sure it looks nicer being fully T-mapped but I have had more fun playing BM than S64 (I own both). Also to a comment earlier in the thread, BM does have an ending. I would say it's the best end sequence (including the last level here, not just the final FMV) next to AvP as it makes you sweat it out to finish it.

That's cool arcadehero, and welcome, glad to have another Jaguar fan that's for sure :)

I know alot of Jag fans absolutely love Battlemorph, and while it's not my favorite game I will readily admit that it's certainly well-programmed and a deep gameplay game. It's not really comparable to a rail-shooter like Starfox64 (which I really like alot), but for some reason I've seen that comparison over and over again. The really great thing is, that you are allowed to prefer BM over SF64 without worry of being attacked personally for it. Welcome to RVG!

Amen!

I suppose the comparison is made because there isn't anything like BM really (ok, maybe kinda sorta Descent but that is stretching things a bit) and the fact that in Atari's mind it was their "Starfox" killer. I guess where they are the same is that you are flying a futuristic craft over an alien world and you blow stuff up. Of course, we'll never know how BM might have been with space sequences ;)

That said, for on-rails action, I *do* like Starfox and S64. I just get annoyed in 64 during free range mode since I feel like it's trying to do something like BM but it is clunky in comparison since the game was obviously designed for the straightforward action parts.

[align=center:1grzu3i9]Robinson's Requiem on the Jaguar CD is superb, especially when you compare it with the other versions:

Robinsons Requiem Atari Jaguar- He keeps shooting me god*(&)it!

Sorry to change the direction of this thread again...but I don't suppose there are any users on here who might have a Memory Track cart for sale? Loving the Jag CD but having to restart the games every time I play is becoming tiresome in the extreme!

I don't have one for sale but, have you checked Best Electronics to see if they have any?

Going to the final frontier, gaming...

Thanks TrekMD - I never thought to check Best Electronics. I've also found one for around £60 at Telegames but it seems a bit steep for what is essentially a memory card. Some joker has one on eBay for nearly £100...where do they get these obscene prices from?!
