Was never much of a fan of this game and never understood all the fuss people make over it.  :39:

You "neer" understood the fuss?  Maybe that's the issue.   :21:

Great great arcade game series. I was never a fan of Nintendo's arcade parts though, especially the joysticks. Their joysticks were too small, and always sloppy, and this made Punch Out!! more difficult due to sloppy left/right controls. They used the same crappy parts on all their machines, even the first time I played an original Mario Bros. cab.

I've had the pleasure of playing both Punch Out and Super Punch Out in the arcades during the 1980's, and what was attractive about them was the giant, colorful and cartoony graphics of the characters. It just looks fun, it's a very attractive package Nintendo came up with here, and you knew that you could at least beat the first character Glass Joe, so it wasn't like you were throwing a quarter away like the first time you played Stargate or some other super difficult game.

I never did see Arm Wrestling anywhere though.

These videos do a nice job looking at the progress the game made.  Here is part 2 which looks specifically at the NES version of Punch Out!!
