Whilst browsing on Yahoo, I found this :-

http://uk.games.yahoo.com/blogs/plugged-in/nightmare-busters-awesome-game-super-nintendo-185559531.html#more-19599

QuoteBargain game publisher Majesco released a version of the classic game Frogger for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1998. By then, every other publisher had moved on from the 16-bit game platform to shiny new CD-ROM systems like PlayStation. Frogger was the last game released for the Super Nintendo in America. Until now.

Some enterprising companies have released new games for the old system, feeding the growing market for classic games. The most prominent of these new releases is Nightmare Busters, a two-player action game created in 1994 but unpublished until last month. Super Fighter Team opened up preorders and processed everyone's $68 payment in February, 2012, and it took until now to finally ship out the games.

I have been patiently waiting for this for over a year now and my copy should arrive sometime this week. Looks awesome and I can't wait to try it  :)

So what were its hold ups? I remember seeing this a while back.

I'm not sure why it took so long. There never was a firm release date, I think they just said it would be done sometime in 2013 and they did start shipping late last month. There was 1200 pre-orders though and it's just a one man operation so it's taken a while to get them all shipped.

That does look pretty nice.  If this indeed is being done by one person and there were 1200 preorders, I can certainly see why there would be a delay in getting this out there.

Yeah I can't imagine having to ship 1200 parcels, I think I'd snap at some point  :21:

Yes. I think the only way to do it is to arrange for whichever service you're using to pick up the packages.  That's way too many boxes for any one person to take to any shipper.

It does look really nice and like you guys have pointed out it's such a massive task for what I didn't realise was one person.

Smart. Some really good SNES homebrew that doesn't get enough coverage. That and prices are often mega high.

Nightmare Busters is an unreleased SNES game, not homebrew :)

Super Fighter Team also has a small group of people that work on the releases, or at least they did on other projects.

There have been a lot of people who were disappointed with this release, however. It seems the quality of the over all product isn't as good as some of the repro makers who used to make this game a few years back, and add the on top of an over a year wait with little to no changes to the ROM has a lot of people wondering why everything took so long.
