There's been regular posts about Oric games on the Retro Gamer forums, but a significant number of people have to use emulators in order to watch the games due to the lack of available floppy disk units.

This message is to inform any interested person that there's currently an collective effort in building a batch of "Cumulus" (A reimplementation of the Oric Microdisc that uses SD Card to store virtual floppy files as used on emulators).

If you are interested, then please read the post at http://forum.defence-force.org/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1012

I you plan to release them it would be wise to do so as assembly as any housing and external extension requires a WEEE registration (to avoid any fee). I personally consult with a lawyer each time I work on a project.

Background is that within europe WEEE registration is required if

a) you create a devices with it's own housing
b) you create something with a brand
c) you deliver a ready device
d) you spread devices not for your own

the only way to avoid a registration is to

a) deliver an assembly
b) mod them inside the original device (so within the floppy drive of course, if you do so within the original computer it is an extension which requires registration)
c) register and pay 500 Eur/year plus the chance to win a dump delivery of 1500 Eur
d) close your eyes and still continue with your effort and if you have no luck win a 50.000 Eur fee

I know that is bad but is law in europe and many people and hobbists stopped their activity or simple deliver assemblies (offering an assembly and service to build them is not allowed in such case).

Only a hint.

It is dedicated to everyone offering assembled devices out of it not for own purpose.

I am currently running two EVGA GTX 480s in SLI and I am think it is about time to upgrade to a decent single card.  Any thoughts on which video card I should upgrade to would be much appreciated.  Thanks.
