FPS games - not a favourite genre of mine - but the Wii offers an interesting control method - aiming with remote and moving with the nun chuck stick.

TrekMD

Nice set of games there.

Going to the final frontier, gaming...

Give these a miss - sadly - a mess up by Sega. The events are fun but there is no structure and the London one has a tedious sub-Mario Party mode that just gets in the way of the fun. None of these even have a straight Decathlon-style mode. Such a pity.

These make excellent use of the Wii Remote. Accurate rolling and tilting in the top row.

Lots of different methods used in Boom Blox, and Gottlieb Pinball uses remote and nunchuck for nice nudge control.

These multi-mini games are better than you would expect. The original Carnival is probably the best of the bunch though they all have something to offer if you are into that sort of thing. It's all lightweight fun but best with parents and kids playing together when it is very good.

More on-rails "lightgun" games - The Wii serves this genre well.

davyk

more mini games. If you like mini-games then get these and you can forget about most 3rd party efforts apart from Carnival.

Wii Music is a child's toy but is a nice distraction and one for collectors too. If you have the balance board there's a drum kit mode which is pretty tough - the board is used to simulate two pedals.

Wii Sports Resort is excellent with motion plus -  it's bowling and golf modes make the original redundant and the golf is as good as full featured titles. Lots more to play - table tennis , frisbee and fencing are just some of the  highlights.

Games for the old grey matter.

Smarty Pants is a basic but content packed quiz game. Rather good and it adjusts questions for age groups. Chess is bare  bones and I only have it as a collector - not a bad game.

Big Brain Academy is far better than you would think and has some very good multi-player modes. Millionaire (2nd edition) is better than the 1st effort but some of the features like phone a friend are poorly done - a missed opportunity as the features of the wiimote such as the speaker could have been put to good use. Still a decent quiz game though.

de Blob - is OK - I think it's overrated but it's a solid game - just it doesn't do it for me. Trauma Center shows great use of the Wii controls and the New Blood Sequel even has 2 player co-op.

davyk

Just Dance - I have 2 teenage daughters. Nuff said.

Pikmin 1& 2 is in my big pile of shame.(Have the GC versions too !!)

davyk

Sonic Colours is rather good - haven't played a lot of it but I intend to correct that. It's the best effort at a Sonic game I have played in a long time. Sonic Racing is very good - not Mario Kart but still well worth getting.

I consider DJ Hero one of the best games of last gen. Excellent game - great controller. Very entertaining. DJH1 has a really nice guitar duet mode too.

Some shooty fun here. Blast works is maybe the worst of this bunch but it's still very good.

GW Galaxies is brilliant and has a nice wiimote & nuchuck control option to try. Classic controller supported too for traditonal twin stick shooting.

Metal Slug Anth is solid and has all the entries in the series but the control is borked because it insists on forcing you to use motion control which is an idiotic decision for this type of game - the only good option is the GC controller that works far better than you would think and rescues the package.

These pics need updated - I have about 40 more games I need to take photos of.....

Very nice! I have a large amount of those Wii games myself :)

The Wii is vastly misunderstood and underated. I think it's a great console and I hope it will be looked back at with some fondness when the little gems in it's library get some exposure.

I have several Guitar Hero games for it and Wii GH is probably the best version since the wiimote goes into the guitar controller and full use of its rumble, tilt and speaker is used. There is also roadie mode in which 2 DS's can connect to the Wii for 4 player 2vs 2 battles.

Tiger Woods on Wii might have slightly inferior graphics - but they are more than good enough. You don't have to pay for DLC courses as they are all on the disc and motionplus from 2010 onwards makes them control-wise at least as good as the Sony ones. I can't imagine Kinnect being able to detect you rolling your wrist.... Later ones (2012 The Masters) even use the balance board for even more control options. You get frisbee mode with the Wii games too.

Assorted odds and sods- some splendid games here.

My daughters love Animal Crossing - not really my thing but it seems to be full of stuff to do. The rest on the picture are great games. Smash Bros Brawl is creaking with content - there is just so much in there.

Punch Out deserved to do far better than it did commerically. Brilliant game and a superb update of the NES original. Wario land is a gorgeous looking 2D platformer that is worth a look.
