What kind of mod is the most wanted?

I currently got a new batch of board samples containing very high integrated mini computers like the Raspberry PI. All of them having much more power, are only a fraction in size and the costs are quite low. Fitted with a realtime os in protected flash the ultimative solution to implement all-in-one mods.

Most having up to 1MB of memory, 1GB of flash for own purpose and plenty of I/O including A/D (PWM), GPIO, USB and video/audio connectors. All of the connectors must be added on demand so no waste of room like on Raspberry PI solutions.

So finally there is plenty of room for own creative idea. Possible features:

- HIGHSCORE picture function (store screenshot on demand for highscores, store them internally or on SD-CARD)
- Analogue to digital screen convertion (HDMI output or 3D functionallity like 3DS)
- Audio improvements (simulation of 2nd soundchip or stereo/surround)
- USB connectivity (using USB joysticks etc.)
- On Screen Displays for configuration (instead of using switches simple provide a screen on demand to configure you mod's)
- Network connectivity (link external network devices to the system)
- store a copy of inserted cartridge to a SD-Card and allow toy run from it

My question is what kind of mod do you want or do you have additional idea what is required?
The next gen of mod's will use this technology (most likely) as costs and benefit is greater than designing own solutions. As the boards are certified and are according to required regulation the costs for own verification is non-existant, too.

Friends already invested in similar technology for their network uplink for homecomputers so a migration is fairly easy and this may obsoletes nearly all available devices for home computers (like SIO2xx, storage based on SD, 80 char cards, stereo implementations etc.). Finally the price tag renders those solution unattractive in comparison to this new technology.

I'd say a universal joystick adapter could be made from a Pi.  Have it convert a Playstation joystick to Atari 2600.  Or, an NES joystick to 7800.

Or, how about an Atarivox/Savekey based off of a Pi?  You could use the SD card to save different save files.

Well regarding the playstation joystick there will be soon an announcement.  :70:
