Master system version, by someway judging by that video. I didn't realise the gulf in capabilities between the 2 consoles was so large tbh.

Not even a fair fight IMO, the SMS obliterates the NES here.

The Master System looks a lot better imho although the sound is slightly better in the NES version. Overall though the Master System wins again for me.

The Master System version is actually the only conversion of the arcade game, all the others are based off the original Apple II version. This would go someway to explaining why it is so superior.

I hate to say it but the NES wins the california games one for me, graphics look better although the animation seemed a bit choppier. Sounds a little better in the videos anyway.

Well, for me, the graphics look better on the SMS but the sound is better on the NES, so I call it even.  :)

I was going to say the NES version until I watched the BMXing event and for me it let the game down. And overall I prefer the more colourful graphics on the SMS version. But the NES version seems to play a little bit better overall bar the above.

A closely fought draw.

I pretty much agree with this.

Has to be the closest one yet.

Another classic game to compare on the 2 systems - Taito's Bubble Bobble:

NES Longplay [148] Bubble Bobble[/align:t6ltji6i]

Both games look good but the SMS is much closer to the arcade.  The maze color and enemies on the NES are different for some odd reason.
