Found this article looking at the vector games of the 1980's that I thought would be of interest here.  Check it out here:  Vector-based Arcade Games of the 80′s

Cool, thanks for the link!  I used to love those games, they felt so immersive and advanced.

Vector games have a look to them that is ageless.  That makes them quite appealing to anyone.  :)

What you talking about Willis? :21:

I agree, vector games still are nice to look at and play.

One of my favourite videogames and arcade coin-op flyers of all time -

Atari Inc. + Star Wars + colour vector graphics = Videogame perfection. :111:

Sit down Star Wars was pure gaming heaven back in the day.

Tempest was my favourite though - a well maintained Tempest cabinet would be my dream purchase. I'd put Tempest in my top 10 game on any format.

Yeah, Star Wars on the sit down machine was really video gaming heaven.  It is unfortunate that the home versions fall short, though it is possible to play an emulated version on a PC which is the exact game.  Just no booth to sit in!  LOL

You need to play the Atari ST version :3:

True, I forgot that's a good version.  Probably the only good home port!

There's also a demo disc that Nintendo released for Star Wars Rogue Squadron III on the GameCube that has the original Star Wars arcade game on it. I sold my Gamecube along with this game years ago but I used to love playing it and it seemed arcade perfect.

Don't forget the version included as an unlockable with Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike (GameCube) too...

Star Wars: Rebel Strike Unlockable Arcade Games

(As can be seen, said GameCube game also includes ports of the TESB and RotJ Atari coin-ops too)

EDIT: I see someone just beat me to posting that, lol!

I suggest downloaded SainT - very good ST emulator and giving the ST Star Wars games a try (it has all 3)

There is also a very good ST version of Battlezone too!

TrekMD

That's cool that they've included the original SW arcade games as unlockable games Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike for the Game Cube!  :)  That video even make it easy to find them!  LOL

That is cool! I only had the demo disc with it on and didn't realize it was unlockable on the full game as well as the other arcade games. Why did I sell my GameCube again. . . .  :(

DreamcastRIP

Here are the codes to access said unlockable content within the GameCube's SWRS3:RS -

Enter the codes via the "Options" menu. R2-D2 will bleep once the code has been entered correctly.

Star Wars:
Enter RTJPFC!G followed by TIMEWARP.
Or unlock it by completing the Death Star Rescue mission.

The Empire Strikes Back:
Enter !H!F?HXS then KOOLSTUF.
Or complete all standard missions.

Return of the Jedi:
Enter !?ATH!RD followed by GAME?YES
Only the code will unlock this game.

Some folk find the SW and TESB games a little unwieldy to control using the GameCube controller whereas others find them just fine.
