I really like the MD (Genesis) version too. It was the pack-in game with US launch day systems.

The current gen Sonic's Ultimate MD/Gen Collection has both the 16-bit version and the arcade original as an unlockable extra.

I'm another one who doesn't get why the game got/gets so much stick. I used to enjoy it a lot, and the MD is a cracking conversion. Granted, it's very basic but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Played this a lot recently on PS3 MD collection, purely just to see if it was as bad as i recal.

Nothing really wrong with it, it's mundane rather than 'shit'.The MD conversion does'nt improve on the Arcade game, but it's not as flawed as say the Amiga or C64 or MS versions.

Could have been a cock-up at printers? (see Lynx Crystal Mines review has it down as a GB game and they always seemed to be saying sorry for mistake/s made in previous issues).

I was actually really impressed by the video of the spectrum version. Especially after the pretty rough looking C64 version.

All of them are still probably better than this though
