Commodore 64 Thread

Bought a C64 last night but it literally just the machine. No tape deck, no power supply no AV cable. However it had about 90 games so I thought it was worth it.

how much did that cost? I suspect buttons considering not tape deck or Power supply.. you should look into one of those SD2disk devices for it, allows you to run the t64 /d64 files directly off an sd card on real hardware

It also came with a Super Nintendo, 2 official SNES controllers, PGA Tour Golf for the SNES, Batman Returns for Mega CD, Sherlock Holmes for Mega CD. All together it came to £30

I should have commented on this thread, as I did own a C64 at one time - and hey, I've reviewed a few games for it on here! 

Shout out for love of the Breadbin.  The original.  With the full fat SID chip - in all its glory.  The SID and the POKEY were the Frazer and Ali of the 8 bit soundchips!  You got to love the brown in the C64's colour palette. 

It was a major success for Commodore - I think it's the best selling home computer of all time. 

I even had the famous 1541 floppy drive for it.  Which, in the UK, was rare - compared to the US.

Twin Kingdom Valley for the C64 is a really interesting game, it is not just a graphical adventure but it also has music and animation in the scenes. It really was something special for the time.

I got a C64 not long after it was launched in the UK, in fact I was the person who did all the research to find out when it was launched because not many seemed to know the exact date

I therefore have to blame nostalgia for most of my choices being early 80s

I liked the variations. Pirates was one of my first games for the C64 and the different covers still make me want to play. A simpler time when imagination trumped graphics.
