Nope, there's lots of Space Harrier but not on the Let's Compare section.

One of my all time favorite arcade games. Used to play it all the time on my 32X and then later on the Dreamcast within the game Shenmue. Now I play it all the time on the Sega Genesis / MD collection on the PS3.
Sure is a lot of versions out there!

1st picked up a home version on the C64, which i thought Zzap 64 slagged off a little unfairly, making out it should'nt have been converted as your C64 did'nt have the chair or the coin-op's hardware.Thought Chris Butler did a decent enough job given strict time limit he was given (think USA version had extra time spent on it).Then had ST version, later GBA and DC via Shen Mue, now have via PS3 MD collection and PS2 Sega Classics collection.

Why Sega never brought Planet Harriers to DC/PS2/Xbox is beyond me or XBLA/PSN.

Yes, I also thought the C64 version made a good fist of it, and better still, it game Chris Butler a good grounding in the art of writing games where loads of character blocks are getting thrown around, Powerdrift being an obvious beneficiary of the experience he gained here.

However, mention should also be made of the peerless A8 version, which was finished recently having been programmed over a number of years by a guy in his spare time ...

The A8 version had my jaw dropping in sheer amazement from minute i 1st saw it running.Sadly it's the 1 version i really want to try i've no means (ie hardware) of trying.

I remember now! I was going to post this one but when I realised just how many versions were missing from the video I decided to wait and see if he made a new one like he has with some of the others.

I posted all of the 8-bit computer versions in the Space Harrier 8-Bit Wars thread.

As a child I enjoyed playing the Speccy conversion of Space Harrier but now have the first truly arcade-perfect conversion of the game by way of Wii's Virtual Console.

That said, the game does feel a little sterile without the sit-down arcade cab's hydraulic chair.



Damn you Konix for never having brought the Konix Multi-System to market!

I have the 32X version, and I think it's a solid conversion. Heck, I even thought the SMS version was good. Fun game.
