Old fashioned mechanical gun games

Anyone remember these? I took a photo of one that is still in operation in a local arcade.

I've seen ones where there's actual pop-up targets to shoot at but never one with a screen like that. Looks like it would be fun though.

I remember those well, there were a couple like it in the Airport Bowl at Heathrow when my dad used to take us to watch him bowl in the league on a Friday night.

I remember these well, they had a load a Billing Aquadrome - a small holiday park I used to go to a lot when I was a kid.

Oh, I sure do remember these!Â The arcade I visited had these.Â I'll admit that I never really played these machines, though.

The one in the photo is from a local arcade that I used to play when I was a teenager.Â It's still there as the photo was taken around Xmas time.Â It's still working and must be over 40 years old by now.Â From my memory, I think the coin mechanism has been changed at least twice - once for when the new 20 pence pieces came in and then again when the new 50 pence pieces came in.Â I might try and get a better photo next time.Â

Yep, I took a go on it around last Xmas time.Â You get about 20 shots per turn - I managed to get 17 out of 20 targets - which wasn't bad, considering that I had about 5 pints of lager beforehand!Â :4:
