Ok everyone, you suddenly have a magic design lab with which you can build yourself a brand new games console. The only problem is that you can only use parts from existing retro games consoles! (so nothing after Dreamcast!)

So you must pick something for each of the following categories and you cannot use the same console more than once!

Processor:
Graphics:
Sound:
Design:
Controller:
Games Library:
Peripherals:

Then the following can be whatever you like!

Category:
Storage Medium:
Name:

Peripherals are things like light guns, modems and 3D glasses. Add-ons like the Mega CD, Jaguar CD and 32X count as a separate console as they all add things to the hardware capabilities. There can only be one choice for each category and they must be a console!

As much as I like the Amiga, the CD32 had its faults and not enough chance before C; went its up, it's a great retro console now what with Amiga compilations etc

Vyothric

Processor: N64
Graphics: Jaguar (2D)
Sound: XEGS (POKEY)
Design: 3DO FZ-1
Controller: Saturn (Model 2)
Games Library: SNES
Add-ons: CD-i

Category: 16-bit
Storage Medium: Cartridge
Name: ThunderCougarFalconBird

It wouldn't technically be 16-bit but I mean in terms of style of game - They wouldn't be designed to be higher resolution than the Mega Drive or more colourful than the SNES. For graphics & CPU I just went with any system that would be sufficient for this. I chose the SNES library because usually the only reason I pick the Mega Drive version of a game that's on the SNES is the lower resolution and possible slowdown, which would no longer be issues and I think overall there are more SNES exclusives that I like than Mega Drive.

Add-on's - Was running out of consoles so I went with the CD-i as it has a light gun, which is all you need. But you could have the digital video cartridge too I suppose.

Design - Would like to have picked the model 1 Saturn, but then I wouldn't be able to use the controller. FZ-1 is a good solid design that doesn't try too hard, which is what I like.

(The name is a Futurama reference)

Picking the PS1 for 2D graphics is a bit strange seen as it was pretty shite at them. Both the Jaguar and Saturn destroyed the PS1 at 2D.
