Seen as the other thread was deleted I thought I would repost it as there was so much good stuff in it:

Lets start off with some scans from EGM:

Surprised to see Double Dragon V get such a high score! Terrible game on all formats!

Tell me about it, especially when you compare it to the other scores!

God knows what that guy who gave it an 8 was smoking  :35:

Nice! How do some of the other Jaguar reviews hold up?

Rogue Trooper

You mean since I deleted that post (as well as others i'd started)-No point in skipping around the obvious here, site allowed me to do just that, yes, there were a lot of good post's in there from others, pity they had to go, but personally as thread creator? felt it and others i'd started had served their purpose and besides, it needed a reboot, so yes, i pulled the plug.

Not going to go into any more detail than that to be honest.

Anyway . . . . .

EGM really hated the Jaguar as you can see, the person who gave the sublime I-War a 2.5/10 needs hunting down and forced to play Rise Of The Robots and Superman 64 for 48 hours straight and then re-review I-War  :4:

This next review sums up the unbelievable bias of EGM:

They reviewed both the 32X and Jaguar versions of Doom side by side and claimed the 32X iteration was better, even though it's just a cut down port of the Jaguar version! UNREAL!

nakamura

Amazing when you look at the features boxout!!

Yep! It really tells a story!

EGM just wanted to make a name for themselves by hating on the Jaguar, it seems.

Pretty much any game that was multi-format always got lower ratings on the Jaguar, they did the same with both Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure and Theme Park too even though the Jaguar had the definitive version of both games at that time.

More from EGM with their reviews of Rayman, Atari Karts and Super Burnout

I very much doubt that, more just crap reviewers.

I remember a couple of the guys who worked at Atari saying that EGM kept asking for things like free games, systems and add-ons etc. and the Tramiels basically wouldn't give anything away for free, they even used to ask for review copies back apparently. EGM argued that Nintendo and Sega gave them free stuff and after that they started ragging on the Jaguar big time.

Interesting. And highlights why I trust little of what reviewers write.  :1:

Quid pro quo, much?

Here are some much more favourable reviews from Gamepro, who in contrast to EGM, seemed to like the Jag.
