I am a video game fan more than anything else.

Still remember seeing Atari VCS at my uncle's house for Christmas of 1977 and being awestruck. I had actually played some Pong clones at a relative's house around 1975-1976 timeframe, but wow was it cool to be able to plug in cartridges for distinctly different games on the VCS. Being poor, I finally talked my father into buying me a Sears Video Arcade 4-switcher for Christmas of 1980. It came with Target Shooting, but by the time I got the Coleco Donkey Kong game in 1982, I was in gaming heaven. Despite its shortcomings,  I played that thing into scores in the hundreds of thousands.

Fast forward a few years, and my wife bought me a NES Control Deck with Super Mario Bros. pack-in for Christmas 1985. I have debated with some on other gaming forums about the official release of NES in North America. Some say it didn't hit widespread US release until fall of 1986, but I know it was in my Midwestern Target store for Christmas of 1985. Reminds me of the Bryan Adams song, 'Summer of '69'. I think I played SMB until my fingers bled.  :<img src=" title="Roll Eyes" />

Fast forward to today, and I am an avid collector and only sometime player. I currently have over 35 consoles and 4,000 games. Amazingly, I have it fairly well organized and it only takes most of a spare bedroom and part of an end of my long family room.

Will I ever be done with my collection? Maybe. If I do, I don't know that I will ever sell even parts because it gets more expensive every day to buy classic video game stuff back.

Enough about me. I look forward to some good gaming discussions on the forums.

The NES had test markets in the US in both 1984 (along with the Atari 7800) and 1985 before it saw an official release in 1986. Hope that helps!

Anyway welcome to RVG and I hope you have fun, we have people from all over the world here!
