A new homebrew game is currently being developed for the Atari 2600  based on a true story of events that happened in the RetroGamingRoundup booth at Classic Gaming Expo 2010.  This game is being developed by AA user Parrothead and it is expected to see release in May/June.  Details of the game can be found over at Atari Age by going here.

Looks awesome!! I heard from them that they were working on a game.  I see now how ambitious it is.  I'm impressed. :)

I will surely need to get an Intellivision System Changer in order to play it on cartridge. (Sorry, I still cannot bring myself down to purchasing an Atari VCS.) :

Yes, but it's cooties are contained by the awesomeness of the Intellivision to which it is plugged in.  :)

Here is a short video of the game in action.  Todd's son is playing the game in the video.

I have to say that graphically, it is very impressive.  However, I really didn't understand what was going on.  I'm sure with a manual and a back-story it'll be clear.  I will get is game when it comes out.

TrekMD

Yeah, I wasn't sure myself what was going on either.  It is supposed to be like an Adventure game, so that big "boss" must be like one of the dragons from Adventure.

Neat looking game! Looks like a chef, E.T. pits and Adventure thrown into a game.

In other words, a perfect homage to classic VCS gaming! :)

The following update has been posted over at Atari Age:

Hey all,

Hopefully it's cool to make a post here as well as our running post in the Home Brew section.  I have seen other home brews listed here for sale so figured it was ok.

Here we go . . . . .

Head's up! We are done with CGE Adventures, the new Atari 2600 game created around live events from Classic Gaming Expo 2010!

CGE Adventures is soon to release the first week of April (preorders) and will be shipping in May. CGE Adventures will be for sale initially, exclusively on GameGavel.com! It will be available in few packages:

1) Atari 2600 cartridge, complete with plastic case, instructions AND special "feelies". In addition, the first 69 sold will include a bonus autographed podcast promo CD (signed by the three RetroGamingRoudup hosts) just like the one in the game that was stolen by the "thief".

2) Complete as above + your name listed as a "Supporter" in the manual (limited run)

OR

2) A rom copy and digital game manual.

Pricing is still being determined based on final costs. But more than likely the complete version will be around $40 +/- (shipped!) and the Rom/manual will be around $10. There will be both NTSC and PAL versions available! Carts will also be sold in the UK during the Revivial and Play Expos AND at the Portland RetroGamingExpo coming up later this year. So there will be plenty opportunities to nab a copy. This will not be a limited run and more can always be made if the demand is there.

I will update this thread with the Sales Listing when it goes live. We have put nearly a year of production into this product and hope you will all have as much fun playing it as we all had making it! Viva Las Vegas!
