List your dead consoles here, along with a small tribute and cause of death if you must

Here goes..

NEC PCE.

Time of birth: Some time in 1988 iirc
Serial number: Unknown
Cause of death: Unknown, original problem was picture going from colour to black and white after the console had warmed up. Sent to Telegames for repair, never returned..

Comments.

Thank you, oh thank you my humble square box of joy, for providing me with a brief glimpse of the brilliance you possess. And ensuring during your short time on this planet that I would indeed have to buy one of your brethren once you passed into the scrap heap in the sky.
Bitches leave

Haven't had any of them die on me...yet.  Let's hope it stays that way.

I have a Saturn with a non-working power board. Still plan on replacing or fixing it though. I think that's the only thing that's really dead....for now.

Not quite an obituary, but:

NEC Turbo Duo

Time of birth: launch day purchase at Gamestop
Affliction: can no longer sing her streaming audio bliss. Still sounds off with the chirps and blurts of her predecessor, but the glorious music has gone quiet. Two attempts at capacitor replacement surgery couldn't cure her ailment.

Thankfully, her Japanese cousin isn't particular about which language she sings.

I have never had a console die on me, the laser was starting to go on my old Saturn and my Jag CD has a broken lid.

I try to take good care of my consoles so most of mine are still alive.
The only one to actually die on me was my very first console, the Gemini and that was many years ago.
My original NES that I bought back in 1986 is on life support at the moment though. Like most people I had no idea blowing in it and in the cartridges was bad and now it's really hard to get it to play a game. Think I need to transplant a new 72 pin connector into it.

dcultrapro

my 3rd Dreamcast currently turns on but when you put in a game it basically does nothing, not sure when it went wrong though or how. But I have two others so no biggie lol. Got 2/3 Game Gears that don't work for various reasons, dodgy screen, no sound etc

I had a PS2 die on me a couple of years ago.  It was the original edition, big and clunky.  I replaced it immediately with a new one, those "modern" slick editions.

It died, I guess, from boredom.  I stopped using it for a while, and then when I tried it once, it just wouldn't display video.

The funny thing is that my Intellivision Master Component (born in1979, and going through at least 3 owners, and as many tours of duty through the US postal network) is still alive and kicking--even when at times I forget to flip the power button for days at a stretch! (It has no indicator, so if you turn off your TV, you can't tell it's on or off.)

I've had a couple Colecovisions leave this world for a better place.

A fun system, but you really have to baby them.

Rogue Trooper

Recently had a PS3 controller 'pass away', by 'pass away' i mean the R2 button sticking, then working after i might just have given it the slightest of knocks on the table, it then sticking again, so i might just have, possibly slamned it down thinking that'd do the job....

Job done, just not the 1 i had intended....new pad now in use.

nakamura

Xbox 360 Elite.

Accuired, 2010.

Passed away when I punched the shit out of it as I hated the piece of shit from day one.

Still functioning somewhere as I traded it but it's dead to me.

My original Atari Lynx will be remembered fondly. I bought it cheaply, and found a guy in one of the place where I worked had lost his and sold me a load of games. It was used regularly to the point I had to buy a car power adapter as batteries were getting too expensive.
Much loved, I even took it apart to see if it could be repaired but eventually had to pull the plug and toss it in the bin. :53:
