Let's take a look at yet another arcade classic port comparison, Gyruss!

I really love Gyruss, the Atari 2600 version is really good considering the hardware! The ColecoVision and Atari 8-bit versions are both incredibly faithful to the original.

The video is missing the NES version:

The 2600 version is remarkable indeed.  Not a small feat at all.

No video sadly but there is a really nice Gyruss clone for the Atari ST called Rotatus:

It's a great game, it was one of Konami's first big hits.

It is definitely a fun game.  I really like the music in it.  :)

I concur.  Gyruss should be part of any "Top Classic Arcade Games" list.  It's truly a classic.  I love it, and play it in MAME occasionally.

I've toyed with the idea of porting it to the Intellivision, but I'm not sure there are enough MOBs (hardware-controlled movable objects, or sprites) to give justice to the enemy attack waves.

That said, the rotary motion is just begging to be implemented for an Intellivision disc controller.

Wow, yeah, that would work brilliantly on the Intellivision!

They managed it on the 2600 so it can't be impossible!

TrekMD

dZ, it would be great if you could port the game to the Intellivision!  As Laird says, if it could be done on the 2600, it should be possible on the Intellivision.  The controllers definitely lend themselves to this game.

Agree! The Intellivision controller does seem perfect for Gyruss.

Here is a new video comparing various versions of Gyruss!
