So everyone we already had a favourite Sega console poll so now its the turn of Atari!

Which one was your favourite and why?

Shadowrunner

I picked the Jag. I do have fond memories of playing the 2600 as a kid but that was a long time ago and I haven't touched one since. My Jag on the other hand is hooked up and I play it quite often. Only other one on the list I have ever owned is the Lynx and it's still pretty new to me so the Jag it is.

2600 hundred for me. I have a 7800 but the library is too small though I'm glad I have it as what is there is sweet. Never had a Jaguar.

For looks, clocked up hours, and nostalgia it has to be the 2600.

I was dithering over this question, but chose the Lynx in the end. I like my Jag, and my 2600 games but the Lynx always had something a little special for me. 8)

This is a hard one to vote for.  I'm going to choose the Lynx because it truly was ahead of its time and it has some really good games.  Second choice is the 7800 because it can also play 2600 games.  :)

Going to the final frontier, gaming...

Has to be the Atari Lynx for me, not just my favourite Atari console but my favourite console full stop.

Such a wonderful machine with an excellent games library, can't rave about the Lynx enough.

TL

Even stevens between the Lynx and 2600 right now!

It's strange to see the 7800 with no votes. The 2600 was my first console so it holds a lot of happy memories and nostalgia but I would always pick the 7800 over it purely because it's backwards compatible so access to both libraries of games.

Wonder how many of 'us' on here actually owned one compared to the other Atari machines?.

I personally remember seeing the 7800's in shops but never owned one, have looked to see if they're available on Ebay at a sensible price but they don't appear to be abundant, so that's maybe why they aren't rocking the vote.

The 7800 was a successful machine for Atari, especially in the U.S. where it outsold the Master System by nearly 2:1. They do regularly come up on eBay but people often don't list them properly and they usually end up going for high prices. It seems the 7800 is very sought after these days, probably because of the vibrant homebrew scene as well as the backwards compatibility.

My favourite Atari console is the Jaguar, a highly underrated system with several fun games in my opinion.

I never owned an Atari console until I bought the Jaguar, I played the 2600 as a kid but never had one back then and the Lynx is another beast that everybody should try, there are lots of awesome games on it.

Actually I'm a big fan of Atari systems, once I finish the Jaguar collection I plan on buying some 2600 games I would love to play, most of them homebrews, it's incredible what can be done with a limited system like this. :)
Don't be surprised, my broken English is legendary!

I went with the 2600. First game system that allowed me to play in the Star Wars universe.

I still remember getting The Empire Strikes Back and later on Death Star Battle and Jedi Arena.

I remember my cousin having the 5200 but he never let anyone play the thing. Must have been the crummy controllers.

Wasn't the Empire Strikes Back just a Defender clone?  At least it was on the Intellivision (and a bad one at that).

I wished and begged for an Atari VCS and never for one.  My cousin had one, and we played Baseball and Circus (or whatever it was, the one with the clowns and the balloons).  I also remember liking Yar's Revenge.

On the other hand, I was a super-fan of E.T. (The movie), but could never make heads or tails of the game... Ah! The memories, how I miss that.  I miss my cousin, too. :)
