This is Defense Force on the Oric, what many people regard to be it's best game:

I was hoping to do an article on that game for RG, but its author has gone a bit quiet on me (which admittedly is not uncommon alas)

I'm no oric fan, but it is aces

That's a shame, would have made an interesting read.

Oh yeah, I remember that article on The Register. Thanks.

This is really impressive, an Oric version of Impossible Mission!

Love this.

The 'background burble' sound really adds to the atmosphere and the animation is superb.

Think this is 1st Oric game i've ever seen.

Another cool homebrew for the Oric, Pulsoids was originally published on ZX Spectum, Amstrad CPC and Commodore 64 in 1988. This great game adaptation from Jonathan "Twilighte" Bristow, released in 2002, is mostly inspired by the C64 version.

Pulsoïds was the first Oric game to use the AIC video mode which provides a rich color palette while limiting the artifacts and other attribute-clashes.

The game exploits nicely the floppy drive by providing many levels, introduction screen, SID music, and also saved high-scores.

This is the complete walk through for this early French text adventure game. "Le Manoir du Docteur Genius" was released in 1983 by Loriciels for the Oric-1 and Oric Atmos micro computers. It was also later released for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum.

Like many of this genre it must have been inspired by the success of Mystery House for the Apple II, the first graphic adventure game. Enter the Dr Genius mansion, and then try to get out!

The game is entirely in French. The text interpreter is pretty simple and very slow. You can only enter a maximum of two words. The entire game was programmed in BASIC!

I can see the Mystery House influence.

Doggy for the Oric by Loriciels

The most interesting thing about this game is that it was written by one Eric Chahi who would go on to develop the smash hit game Another World (also known as Out Of This World).

I can see the influence for the Playstation 2 game Dogz Life and for the Nintendo DS dog games.

My first thought was "It looks like Chopper Command", then I seen all the flak you have to dodge. That really looks like a tough game.
