Continuing the chain of "Evolution of" threads, let's take a look at one more sport:Â Basketball.Â Let's get started by looking at three basketball versions on the Atari 2600, all from Atari.

Here is one I had not even considered!Â Basketball on the Odyssey 2!Â It actually has two games in one (Bowling/Basketball) so you'll need to advance to 1:15 to get to the basketball game.Â

Indeed, there is a massive jump from Basketball to Double Dunk.

I always remember Basketball from Airplane! where Kareem Abdul Jabbar is playing it on the radar screen!

I've never taken the time to play Double Dunk.Â I do have the ROM, so I should just pop it on the Harmony Cart and try it out.Â

Those two are quite different from each other.Â One tries to be realistic and the other takes an "animated" approach.Â Kinda cool.

Though never released, a working prototype file of RealSports Basketball for the 5200 does exist. Here is an image of the game:
