Continuing the chain of "Evolution of" threads, let's take a look at one more sport:  Basketball.  Let's get started by looking at three basketball versions on the Atari 2600, all from Atari.

I really like Double Dunk, I used to play it loads when I was a kid!

Remarkable to see how much the same sport games changed so much on the 2600!

Here is one I had not even considered!  Basketball on the Odyssey 2!  It actually has two games in one (Bowling/Basketball) so you'll need to advance to 1:15 to get to the basketball game.  :)

Indeed, there is a massive jump from Basketball to Double Dunk.

I always remember Basketball from Airplane! where Kareem Abdul Jabbar is playing it on the radar screen!

I've never taken the time to play Double Dunk.  I do have the ROM, so I should just pop it on the Harmony Cart and try it out.  :)

Those two are quite different from each other.  One tries to be realistic and the other takes an "animated" approach.  Kinda cool.

Though never released, a working prototype file of RealSports Basketball for the 5200 does exist.  Here is an image of the game:

There was also a second version of the game that was developed but it was abandoned in favor of the version above.
