Played it but not a big fan at all as it is much to action orientated for me and the combat is just plain awful.
I applaud the variety of choice and the narrative but it just never really worked for me.

Quote from: "Bobinator"While we're on this sort of subject, has anybody ever tried Shadowrun on the Genesis/Mega Drive?

Seen as we have a member called Shadowrunner I would say that is a yes!  :P

Console Compulsive

Shadowrun on the Megadrive is not such a great game as for the majority of the game you are running small boring point to point missions. Time consuming and irritating but there is a Snes shadowrun which is much better.

Shadowrunner

Yup Shadowrun on the MD is one of the greatest games ever made!  Anyone who disagrees must have had to much egg nog  :P

Console Compulsive

Have to admit though, although personally I find the game a little on the tedious side I do enjoy the hacking sequences.

I thin Shadowrun SNES and MD are really very different games, but each great in its way. Shadowrun SNES is more simplistic and straight forward story-driven; Shadowrun on MD is almost like an early sandbox RPG. It has offers way more possibilities and a more complete recreaton of the tabletop game.

Personally I like both the same.

As for Warriors of the Eternal Sun: Good game too, a western style RPG especially for the MD. Looking at it always makes me dream of Mega Drive versions of games such as Ultima VII or Ambermoon...
BTW, the game was meant as start of a series; it was developed by Westwood, of Dune II-, EotB- and Command & Conquer-fame. Sadly Westwood was bought by Virgin in 1992, just after the release of this game, and their involvement with AD&D was over. No other developer continued the series. :( With such a good first part it cold have really grown into a big console RPG franchise.

Rogue Trooper

Don't forget:

Shadow Run:Tokyo, Japan only MCD game.Different to SNES+MD games (with mix of play styles, Snatcher-esq, Matrix type hacking, Shining Force style combat etc, plus some awful FMV sequences).

And the more recent 360/PC game which, going by reviews, was a very poor update.

Tachi

The 360 Shadowrun game was an online deathmatch only game that was fun for a little while but extremely limited.
Anyone have any other games on MD RPGs that seemed to have gone unappreciated?
I am a massive fan of Fatal Labyrinth and (another of my top 10 games of all time) Might and Magic: Gateway to Another World.
Fatal Labyrinth seemed to have been lambasted due to it's generic gameplay, dull graphics and lack of story but personally, as a lover of Rogue and the like I really like it.
And M&MGtAW, what's not to love there? I know it got pretty good reviews on release but no-one really speaks of it anymore and I have always found it the game that keeps on giving!

Never played any Might and Magic games on the MD. I did spend lots of time with Kings Bounty.

lol! Is M&M Gates to Another World, the only one released for the Mega Drive? That game stands out as a friend of mine had one Might and Magic game. He seemed to enjoy playing it very much?

Tachi

Sadly yes it was the only one released  :-[

Sad, but it makes it easier for me to track down the right game. :)

It was the only one released on MD, although M&M III: Isles of Terra was in development too. A beta is available in the www, it is complete save for a bug that causes some annoying input lag. Sometimes I have to hit a button 5 times before it reacts. An English TurboDuo CD exists of part 3.

Both were released on the SNES though; sadly censored.

Here's a censorship comparison in German, with comparing screenshots: http://www.schnittberichte.com/schnittb ... hp?ID=4497

M&M III even had the ending cut on SNES. :P

I had a copy on SNES and really didn't like it. The preset party and garish visuals really didn't work for me at all :(
