Brilliant games, among the best puzzle games out there.
8 players?? Damn, I need to try it!!

That's a game for parties!

There's way too many to list, but I'll have a go anyway.

Final match tennis - me and my brother used to have some epic matches, absolutely brilliant.
Super Tennis - see above
Moto Roader - great fun
X-wing - on the later missions, I would take care of shield duties and power distribution etc while my brother in law concentrated on the combat. It made for a really effective partnership and eased the difficulty somewhat.
PES 2 - me and my nephew would play for hours and hours.
Best of the Best - there was nothing more satisfying than being on the receiving end of a pasting, only to turn the tide in an instant with a perfectly timed spinning punch.
Double Dragon - for obvious reasons
Smash TV - absolute mayhem competing for the prizes.

I assume we mean two-player as in head to head or in co-operation. Can't think of many but TrekMD did mention one of my favourites -  Dodge 'Em :) I also remember playing Trailblazer against my step-daughter and she used to win a lot (guess I shouldn't admit that on a gaming forum)

For the record, Alien verses Predator on the Atari Jaguar holds a Guinness World Record!

To remove any awkwardness, I have mesothelioma. I don’t seek sympathy, just acceptance. Thanks

I can't believe I have not posted Ballblazer!  This has to be one of the most fun 2-player games ever!

All those look like great choices!

I am a big Xenophobe fan, especially the Lynx version, but for 2-player split screen versions the NES is one of the worst. The versions for the Atari machines are definitely the best!

Xenophone is indeed a great game and I love playing on both the Lynx and the 7800!

That ST version of Xenophobe is visually pleasing, but for me, NES is what I played back then and it boils down to nostalgia if nothing else. I have never been one who is wowed by graphics over gameplay. In fact, I love VCS Donkey Kong to this day if that tells you anything. When you say that NES Xenophobe is one of the worst, on what do you base that claim? Less aliens per screen? Smoother screen transitioning?
