Quote from: "sloan"I never saw Viewpoint in arcades and believed it was a Sammy game developed for NG. I have to say that if I get a NG some day, it will be because of this game. That version's soundtrack alone blows me away.

I did not know of the FM Towns Marty or N64 ports either. Hmmm, I do have a N64 or two lying around...

When people say arcade they mean a Neo Geo arcade machine.

The planned N64 version was never released.

Viewpoint is an amazing game, lot's of pattern memorizing, only for patient people. :)

Solstice for the NES and its sequel Equinox for the SNES were great, I see they were mentined here too.
Don't be surprised, my broken English is legendary!

I saw Equinox (Solstice II) got posted but not the original Solstice, so here it for the NES.

A classic here from the Mega Drive along the same lines - The Haunting:

Sega Megadrive - The Haunting

Crusto

I don't believe anybody has mentioned Alien 8 yet, so I'm going to. Good game, very good. Buck Rogers countdown to doomsday had isometric sections too, although very primitive. Still, it didn't detract from the experience, super game.

And what about the strike series? Then theres syndicate (think, never played it)

Quote from: "The Laird"How did we forget the Strike games?  :13:

Classics:

Atari Lynx - Desert Strike: Return to the Gulf

Mega Drive Longplay [173] Jungle Strike

Soviet Strike: First Campaign Gameplay Footage (Sega Saturn)

Desert+Jungle:yes.Urban...not so much so, lacked the focus and polish of 1st 2 IMO.

Soviet was good, but Nuclear was superb.

From what i recall the Strike series along with Road Rash was a game E.A tried numerous times to update for newer generations of hardware, but failed.

Rare didn't just make great isometric games for the Spectrum, they made a few for the NES too. Especially the excellent Cobra Triangle:

That looks fun.  I'll have to check it out myself.  :)

I suggest you do, my neighbour had it when I was younger and I always liked it.

This is another good one for the NES by Rare:
