I recently got this game and had to put a thread up.. I simply can not get enough of this game.  How on earth this system failed is beyond me..

I believe it had something to do with the CEO wrapping his Ferrari around a light post or something...
Seriously though it really is too bad, judging by the videos I've seen it had a lot of potential.
One of these days I'm going to get one. I've been looking but they're not that easy to find.

Lo yeah there were loads of reasons why the system failed, obviously the people behind it were the most to blame...not the designers or devs though as they done great jobs of what they had to work with.
But even before it came out the name change from Gametrac to Gizmondo got bad reactions from everyone who heard it, I even told the CEO that people were just taking the mick out of the name before launch but of course they know better!
Pus the fact it was small constant white lies every other week that started to make you think like the 560,000 pre orders on their website...even the closest fans knew this was made up and made you think what other stuff lied to us about...
The hardware itself was pretty solid, the only two things that annoy me is the awful battery life and long boot up time, the latter can be helped by just putting into standby mode, and the former was improved for the us launch with a 2x battery, but by this time word of mouth about these and lack of games at launch killed it off, the price drop to £129 helped a lot but people thought they were getting adverts sent to their machines, of course this never happened in the end, at the time it was selling well in maplins and other GPS unit sellers as it was the cheapest gps machine on the market in 2005 with the Giz, maps and car cradle coming in at £229 it was at least £150-200 cheaper than garmins and Tom toms at the time.
By yeah it was such a shame as the devs were just starting to push the hardware after the first 6 months and the cancelled games show what progress was being made.

Would be good to get some interviews with people involved with this from the games upwards..

Any ideas who best to contact?

I'm not in contact with any of the Giz team anymore, though the best bet for Giz games is searching for ex warthog programmers who Giz bought out.
