"Axel F" is the electronic instrumental theme from the 1984 film Beverly Hills Cop performed by Harold Faltermeyer. The title comes from the main character's name, Axel Foley (played by Eddie Murphy), in the film. It topped musical charts in 1985 and remains a popular remix track to this very day.

While only a few home computers recieved a version of the Beverly Hills Cop game nearly every single one has at least 1 version of the Axel F theme music on it. What we want to know is though, which one does it best?

I picked the speccy version, as it's the closest to the ST version I remember and liked the David Whittaker remake so I voted for that, and why..oh why even include the pc version? 4 notes isnt a tune..ohh the pain  :'(

Alberto 2K

I voted for the Commodore64 but the Spectrum version is also nice.

That DOS tune sounds awful, it hurts to hear it!
Don't be surprised, my broken English is legendary!

I went with the Spectrum version too, I think it's the most authentic. I had to include that PC version for a laugh  :P

By the way Alberto (and any other new forumites) there is loads of these threads, the full list with links is pinned at the top of the forum!

Also, Barbarian 2 on the BBC Micro has this music for some reason.

Haha, I can just imagine what they were thinking - "Let's just take this old music and slow it down. They'll never know we reused an old piece of music". LOL.

The SAM Coupe version isn't all bad, but it has a bit too much reverb for my liking. I was ready to vote for the Amiga version, but for some reason it isn't here. In that case I prefer the Spectrum version.

Here's the Amiga version btw. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2697142/AXELF_2.MOD
It plays in WinAmp (or a hundred other player too, I guess). :)
